Schmitt & Sons, a division of Patrick Industries, and a leading manufacturer of customized hardware components for the marine industry, has an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and self-disciplined Accounting Manager/Staff Accountant. The Accounting Manager/Staff Accountant must have the capability to manage standard accounting practices for the operation and have strong leadership qualities.


The Accounting Manager/Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing, compiling and analyzing the company’s financial records and statements and ensuring the company’s financial compliance. They will be executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, tax returns, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, forecasting and budgeting.

Essential job functions will include:

• Maintain an adequate system of accounting and payroll records designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results

• Execute timely monthly month-end closing activities, ad hoc financial and operational performance reporting

• Enter accounting and payroll related information into business systems, perform monthly bank

reconciliations, general ledger and journal entries in a timely and accurate manner

• Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards

• Works with the Corporate Office to prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans to Business Unit Leaders

• Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

• Provides status of financial condition and operational performance by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data

• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends

• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to the Corporate Office


• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

• Candidates should have 2+ years’ of progressively responsible experience preferably in Manufacturing Job Shop Environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management

• Ability to quickly adapt communications in a variety of settings to meet the unique needs of multiple audiences

• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently with little to no oversight

• Strong accountability and follow-through skills

• Strong analytical/critical thinking

• A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities

G.G. Schmitt & Sons, a leading manufacturer of Stainless Steel and Aluminum original equipment for the boat building industry, is accepting job applications for skilled Aluminum Welders.

  • Proficient in TIG welding, specifically on anodized and mill finish aluminum.
  • Use of hand tools including grinders, saws, drills, and screw guns.
  • Full Time workload Monday-Friday (including some Saturdays).
  • Pass a weld test.
  • High School Diploma or GED


  • Keep up with a fast-paced manufacturing line to ensure that our shipping department receives parts in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner and able to get along with others.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations and housekeeping guidelines.
  • General housekeeping, maintenance and organization.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds.
  • Engaging in bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling.
  • Work in a covered warehouse environment to include varying temperature conditions.
